Exporting and Importing a Categorization Model

Export a categorization model and import it to another instance of Tamr.

The classification model is stored as a zip file when exporting and importing. The zip file contains all of the files built by the model based on that unified dataset, including taxonomy, and categorization information.

Export the Model

To export the categorization model

On the source instance, use GET /v1/projects/{project}/categorizations/model:export. The project is the id for the source instance Categorization project. The API returns a zip file. Suggested use is shown below:

curl -X GET --header 'Accept: application/zip' --header 'Authorization: BasicCreds <AUTH>' 'http://<HOST>:9100//api/versioned/v1/projects/<SOURCE_PROJECT_ID>/categorizations/model:export' > categorizationModel.zip

Import the Model

Before Importing the zip file, verify that the following required files are included:

  • manifest.json
  • categorizationInfo.json
  • taxonomy.json
  • histogramBoundaries.avro
  • modelDataset.avro

This can be accomplished by running unzip -l categorizationModel.zip

To Import the Categorization Model:

On the target instance, use POST /v1/projects/{project}/categorizations/model:import.

The project is the id for the target instance categorization project. The API takes a zip file as the body argument. Suggested use is shown below:

curl -X POST --header 'Content-Type: application/zip' --header 'Accept: application/json' --header 'Authorization: BasicCreds <AUTH>' --data-binary @categorizationModel.zip 'http://<HOST>:9100/api/versioned/v1/projects/<SOURCE_PROJECT_ID>/categorizations/model:import'
